Aseem Asha Usman
With a PG in Development Communication from AJK MCRC, Jamia University, Aseem Asha Usman, a trained film-maker, focuses his creative skills to highlight the issues of marginalized communities.
He teaches performing arts, film, and new media to women, youth and children from private and public schools and different colleges of India. He has empowered children and women from various communities of India to raise their voice by equipping them to make documentaries, short films and digital stories based on their own issues. He also helps them build careers through Digital Media and has trained more than 1200 students in Community Film-Making, the outcome of which are 270 community films in Delhi and across India.
Aseem has been instrumental in promoting global peace and brotherhood through making short films on local as well as celebrated artists with the help of his creative group. he has also worked with Music Maestro Mr. A.R.Rahman, Film-Maker Mr. Muzaffar Ali & Painter Mr.Jatin Das.
He has been running the “Tagore Peace Campaign” with the Flying Birds of India since 2011. His group has presented seven annual Tagore Utsavs and showcased the creative works of Tagore in Jamia Millia Islamia campus where more than 3000 students from private, public Schools and also from marginalized communities of Delhi have participated. “The Tagore Utsav” was moulded especially for the non-Bengali communities. Guru Rabindranath Tagore often spoke about how art and creativity in many small ways of life can connect one with the real world.
Aseem has worked extensively with trafficked women of Shonagachi & Munshiganj of Kolkata and Forbesganj of Bihar in association with Apne Aap Women Worldwide Ngo. He headed the documentary film-making project and produced more than 40 Short documentary films on trafficking. He has also worked with the vibrant youth of YMCA, New Delhi.
Aseem is the recipient of Global Indian ‘KARMAVEER PURASKAR’ which was given to him in December 2011 for his creative peace initiatives.
