Our educational programmes empower children—sustaining over 2,50,000 children while expanding to reach out to the new ones. Our hallmark programme, I Love Reading—a reading and school transformation initiative in MCD schools—was awarded the Millennium Alliance award in the year 2014-15. The support helped us reach out to 88,000 children in 88 MCD schools and 126 communities. Furthermore, a study on the effect of ILR curriculum in schools concluded that the attendance jumped from a mere 59% to 89.33%—an overall increase of 30.33%. Overall retention of 100% was also observed in this period.

Pushing the boundaries of education through creative technology, Katha launched a unique e-learning initiative under the ILR programme called www.padhopyarse.net. A repository of resources, the initiative leapfrogs the huge gap of access to quality content that teachers face. Apart from making the content available to teachers around the globe, the initiative also imparts teacher-training extensively for a wider reach.
