Project detail: Teach children from non-literate families to handle computers at the Katha InfoTech & Ecommerce School [KITES]. Change the connotation of ‘I’ in IT from individual to “inclusive”!                       
Project location: New Delhi
Project duration: October 2008 – September 2010
Project start date: October 08
Language preference: Should know Hindi and/or English..
Experience required (if any): IT/Education sector
Attributes/Qualities required: Must be computer literate and comfortable with teaching children of all ages and backgrounds.
Period of volunteering opportunity: Two weeks to 1 year
Age range: 17-65 years

Project detail: Lead a reading campaign in some of the poorest slums and rural/semi-rural suburbs and villages of Delhi. Get children aged 2-8 into reading at least 600 words with ease, using Katha’s proven educational technology and story pedagogy.                       
Project location: New Delhi
Project duration: October 2008 – September 2010
Project start date: October 08
Language preference: Should know Hindi and English.
Experience required (if any): Education sector
Attributes/Qualities required: A passion for working with children!

Must be comfortable with and able to talk and interact well with children of

all ages from slum/rural communities. Be able to inspire older children in

the community to come in as volunteers and share the exciting goal of

making their village/slum 100% literate!
Period of volunteering opportunity: Two weeks to 1 year
Age range: 17-65 years
Fees to organization: Nil
Cost to volunteer: All living expenses will be met by the volunteer.

Typical work for volunteer: Interacting with children, teaching for literacy at the grassroots, basic language skills (in Hindi and English).

Be a product innovator/designer for the Katha Bakery & Design Units
3 months onwards, Govindpuri
Teach new recipes to our women in the Katha Executive Lunch Programme, the Bakery and other Self-Help Groups.

Mentor our tailors and other SHGs into better income generation and marketing skills.

Lead our women campaigners, help them enhance communication, slogan-writing and other campaigning skills.

Arts for women: Share your dance/music/storytelling/film/theatre/puppetry/painting/pottery and other related arts skills with our women and children, and help them discover their own!

Project detail: Lead our women from poverty i
City/Village: New Delhi nto self-propelled income generating activities. There are also opportunities to work on developmental and empowerment issues around water, health, sanitation and other basic amenities.

Language preference: Should know Hindi.
Experience required (if any): Development/Activism sector
Attributes/Qualities required: Must be able to communicate and do things easily and well with these women. Must be able to inspire other women in the community to come in as volunteers and help others boost their earning, campaigning and creative skills, thereby bringing prosperity to their homes and communities!
Period of volunteering opportunity: Two weeks to 1 year
Age range: 17-65 years
Fees to organization: Nil
Cost to volunteer: All living expenses will be met by the volunteer.

Attributes/Qualities required: A passion for and keen sense for story,

excellent command over idiomatic and literary written English,

exposure to literary styles, genres and writers across Indian and

international languages. Knowledge of any Indian languages is welcome!

An eye for design, layout and illustrations would be great!
