professional schools
Through education and holistic city/community initiatives and through
student
activism that is centred in the Katha schools, Katha
addresses the poverty of creativity that assails us. These schools include:
The Katha Lab at Govindpuri, Katha School of Information Technology & E-Commerce
(KITES), Katha School Of Entrepreneurship (KSE), Katha Student
Support Centre, Katha School Of Social Work, Katha English Academy, the
50 ECD schools, and the 10 pavement schools serviced by the two Books on
Wheels-Workshops on Wheels (BOW-WOW) vans that take reading pleasure to
22 unserved slum clusters of Delhi.
Katha English Academy: Recognizing
the importance of knowing English, the Katha English Academy (KENGA)
was started, wherein the children of the Govindpuri slum and neighbouring
areas that Katha works with, who wish to study English, get a chance to
do so. KENGA’s modules have been developed keeping in mind their
basic knowledge of English, and devised so as to meet the demands of slow,
moderate and fast learners, thus giving space for flexibility and innovation.
It also targets students of the KITES programme, whose lack of fluency
in English may be a drawback when they apply for jobs in firms, despite
their knowledge of IT.
