It had been a while since I was scouting for an NGO to work with – where I could prove my skills as well as learn a few things. That’s when I came across KATHA. Just a little bit of research and I knew that this is the place where I wanted to be. I had always been very fond of kids and wanted to do something for the underprivileged children. The work KATHA is doing interested me a lot. It’s vision of teaching the kids and making them self-sufficient in their own way is very interesting.
So, I joined KATHA on 27th July, 2016 as a photography intern. One of the most exciting experience of working here has been going to Katha Lab School. Entering the school makes you feel as if you have been transported to a different world altogether. The environment there is so overwhelming that I started wishing that I had been taught in a school like this. The whole staff from teachers to support staff are so dedicated towards their work and Katha. It’s the kind of dream place for any photographer – its such a beautiful place to capture. Moreover, the kids are so lively and enthusiastic that one hardly has to work hard to capture the beautiful faces. The photos themselves speak volumes about how the kids feel at KLS. The looks on their faces conveys that they are enjoying in the school – something that at least we, in the so called top notch schools, actually didn’t do.
Coming to how I felt in the office, there is only one word to describe it: Awesome. The work environment here is friendly and positive. What would an employee want more that a positive environment to work in. The environment brought out the best in me. I have had the privilege to work with some of the most amazing people in my team who are so helpful, courteous and understanding. Special mention to Sruthi, who has always been there to guide me and help me at the same time. She has been one of those people who really inspire me to work a little beyond my capacity. An awesome mentor to work with. Overall interning in Katha has been a great learning experience and given a chance I would like to work with Katha in the coming future also.
