The
Katha Awards were instituted in 1990, for achievements
in creative writing, translation, editing, and illustration,
and have now come to be regarded as one of India’s
premier recognitions in short fiction, while the Katha
Chudamani Award recognizes lifetime achievement in literature.
Through projects such as the national and international
translation contests, Katha regularly works to expand
its pool of translators.
