A touch of class

True education always has heart and mind growing in tandem as we all know. And as a sensitive Principal, you know that you would like to provide what today's parents want schools to do, so what if it is all - Character education, sex education, gender education, leadership training.

Our teachers say that it is difficult to teach ethics for this takes a lot of time, and they have to give importance to children's subject learning and preparing for and passing examinations. Also, in all large cities, it seems as if society is willing to tolerate unethical behaviour and people who think that values can be negotiated. Many of the students we speak to, in the more than 750 workshops Katha has done over the last six months, tell us that they feel adults are inconsistent, and don't act like good role models.

This is the challenge that Macdonald's Nike and others face when they come into India . That's why the training of the heart and the mind in tandem is taking such importance in the world of education. But this you know already!
