Kala Nivas: Four Arts Centre
This is one of the most exciting centres of
learning at Katha schools. Called the Four Arts Centre,
it offers, Fine Arts. Theatre. Dance, music and the
performing arts. As also Media Arts like photography.
- Learning Output 1 :
Learning to Live a Life Appreciative of the Arts
Students will learn to see all learning as art and
enrich their lives with developing a discerning eye
for beauty and perfection -- whether it be in personal
hygiene and beauty areas, or in their physical surroundings.
They will be able to appreciate proportions and design
in all that they see, and develop an interest in all
things design.
- Learning Output 2: Creating, Performing,
and Participating in the Arts
Students will actively engage in the processes
that constitute creation and performance in the arts
(storytelling, dance, music, theatre, and visual arts)
and participate in various roles in the art: Theatre.
Fine Arts. Media Arts and Sports.
- Learning Output 3: Knowing and
Using Arts Materials and Resources
Students will be knowledgeable about and
make use of the materials and resources available
for participation in the arts in various roles.
- Learning Output 4: Responding
to and Analyzing Works of Art
Students will respond critically to a variety
of works in the arts, including the literary, connecting
the individual work to other works and to other aspects
of human endeavour and thought. And understanding
the value of the arts in enriching life and how the
arts can give deep satisfaction and learning as leisure
time activities.
- Learning Output 5: Understanding
the Cultural Contributions of the Arts
Students will develop an understanding of
the personal and cultural forces that shape artistic
communication and how the arts in turn shape the diverse
cultures of past and present society. The main artists,
writers and others of India and their contributions
to society.
- Learning Output 6: Understanding
the Social Contributions of the Arts
Students will understand the meaning of identity
and how this is forged through the arts and how this
can be part of the larger understanding of life. They
will study the Natya Shastra and how this was created
so everyone could understand the more complex theories
and ideas. They will learn to use the principles of
the Natya Shastra to communicate effectively. Through
street plays and Art for Humanity ideas, they will
hone their skills through contributing their skills
for various projects and activities of the school.
