Katha has 26 SHGs today. This is one of the fastes growing enterprises at Katha, thanks to the interest of the communities' women!
WHAT IS A SHG?
An SHG is small (10-20 members), generally homogenous and related by affinity; it is a group whose members use savings, credit and social involvement as instruments of empowerment.
Objectives-
- To bring empowerment through Self Help Concept i.e development through participation.
- To inculcate a habit of saving among the families.
- To decrease dependency on moneylenders.
- To enhance their confidence and skills.
- To increase awareness on various local institutions and schemes.
- To help develop micro enterprise.
- To initiate and implement community development activities.
